This discussion will initially start with a brief overview of the 5 patterns found in geospatial information systems; 1) asset/data management, 2) planning and analysis, 3) field mobility, 4) operational awareness, and 5) citizen engagement. These patterns will then be applied in an engineering context of the infrastructure life cycle within Public Works operations. Finally, a discussion on the new paradigm of data availability and sharing with Cloud technology.
